Isabella Lashley

A first-year at Harvard, Isabella Lashley has a passion for language, justice, and the humanities. Her curiosity led her from Queens, New York to study Middle Eastern politics and Arabic in Jordan. Her experiences in Jordan led her to pursue research in postcolonial theory and international relations. Throughout her academic career, she has juggled intellectual pursuits with the arts, specifically with a love of music and a love of museums. A lifelong stutterer, she expresses herself with ease through the arts, unencumbered by her speech impediment. Having had lived experiences of racism, sexism, and ableism, she has held positions advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion in both academic settings and cultural settings. At Harvard, she is a member of the Institute of Politics, the Harvard Art Museums Student Board, and a Music and Justice working group at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. She hopes to pursue a career in international human rights law.
