2021 Awards Luncheon Creating Leaders for a Lifetime

Meet Anesi Ojior

Throughout her educational career, Anesi has applied passion andintrospection to everything she does. From her Chinese skills (winning a national Chinese-essay honor last fall and studying abroad in Beijing at just age 15) to her deep interest in U.S history and literature, Anesi’s interests are expansive. However, this year she has been able to further explore her natural inclination for politics by completing Choate’s rigorous John F. Kennedy ‘35 Program in Government and Public Service.

Anesi’s intrinsic tenacity is always apparent in class, with her Government teacher saying, “Anesi didn’t just want to know the facts, she wanted to understand their meaning”.

During her senior year, Anesi’s genuine passion for learning was reflected not only by achieving a cumulative GPA of 4.035, but also by becoming a College Board National African American Recognition Scholar. Recently, Anesi was accepted to over ten elite colleges and has chosen to continue her education at Columbia University in New York City as a Kluge Scholar next fall.

Outside of classes, Anesi is highly involved in her community, whether by volunteering at local elementary schools, working alongside Atlantan activists, or by simply aiding her school’s cleaning staff in the dining hall even when no one is watching.

Respected by her peers and community for her exemplary character, Anesi is a born leader with a strong grasp of the world and her place in it, bound to enact a meaningful difference, making A Better Chance proud in doing so.
