Damaris Herron-Watkins Chief Finance and Operations Officer

Damaris has 15+ years of experience in the Non-Profit industry in NYC and for the last 10+ years, her experience has been in non-profit accounting. She joined A Better Chance in 2019. She has worked in every aspect of the accounting lifecycle and her goal in her work is to educate, build relationships and improve systems for the betterment and financial health of the organization. She is also currently the founding Board Treasurer for the Friends of Global Community Charter School, a non-profit that supports Global Community Charter School located in Harlem, NY.

Prior to A Better Chance, Damaris was with LaGuardia Community College where she played an integral role in the administration of scholarships to LaGuardia’s first-generation college and immigrant student populations through its foundation.

Damaris has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minor in Economics from CUNY Queens College and a Masters in Educational Psychology from Capella University.
