Chris Marquardt
From his home base in Atlanta, Chris Marquardt heads the Labor & Employment practice group at the international law firm Alston & Bird LLP. Chris is a husband, a father of four children, a lawyer, a former student athlete, and an active supporter of organizations that work to provide opportunity for all. In his legal practice, Chris represents private businesses, public corporations, sports leagues and franchises, K-12 independent schools, and post-secondary educational institutions. Chris helps his clients understand and comply with employment, civil rights laws, and labor laws; litigates disputes in the courtroom; negotiates contracts in the board room; and conducts high-profile internal investigations.
Throughout his career, Chris has been active in educational and nonprofit organizations. He has chaired several nonprofit Boards in metro Atlanta, including: the Board of an independent girls’ school, the Board of an arts-in-education organization, and the Board of a nonprofit serving immigrant communities in Georgia. In addition to his work for A Better Chance, Chris currently chairs the Board of a philanthropic organization committed to supporting public art in the Atlanta area and serves on the Board of a nonprofit that works to promote racial equity and shared prosperity for all in the American South.
Chris received an A.B. in English Literature from Princeton University and a J.D. with honors from the Duke University School of Law. During his college years, Chris was on Princeton basketball teams that won four Ivy League Championships and had four trips to the NCAA tournament. When not working, Chris enjoys spending time with family and friends in the mountains.
